Mushroom Spaghetti Sauce Recipe form 1947! Vintage Recipes

Let's try this Mazola Corn Oil Mushroom Spaghetti sauce recipe from 1947! Sharing :)
Note: I did bite into a couple cloves. I suppose you can remove them and the pepper corns if you want. Didn't bother me - the sauce was so good!

Mushroom Spaghetti Sauce 1947
3/4 pound fresh mushrooms, sliced (I used 8oz)
2 medium onions, chopped (I used 1-1/2)
1 clove garlic (I used 2 small pieces)
1/2 cup Mazola Salad (corn) oil (I used 3/4 cup)
2-1/2 cups canned tomatoes (I used 2 cups de-seeded)
6 ounce can tomato paste
1 cup water
1 tablespoon salt (I used 1/2 tbsp)
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 tablespoon sugar
Dash of cayenne
6 whole cloves
6 peppercorns

Cook mushrooms, onions and garlic in MAZOLA Salad Oil 15 minutes over
moderate heat in uncovered heavy kettle. Add remaining ingredients. Then
cook over low heat 1-1/2 hours, stirring occasionally. Remove garlic. Serve
hot over spaghetti. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese, if desired. Makes 5 cups.
