In 1999 I had a job baby sitting high school kids ( mostly shooting 8 ball ) on a US army base in Germany . Along came a progressive manager (Sherri Tharp) who asked me what would I do if I could do anything on base ? Two years later I was in the high school every day working as a coach for the Jazz Band with the band director as well as working with the Art Teacher doing exactly what you are viewing . Good times .
The term tesegrity was coined by rogue mathematician , architect ,philosopher and inventor of the Geodesic Dome, R. Buckminster Fuller . One of his students at the famous short lived Black Mountain College (Kenneth Snelson) actually invented the tensegrity in the form you see here . His work can be viewed in public spaces and museums around the world . His work is large and shiny chromium steel and High tensile aircraft cable .
