Let's Talk Music!

The life of a sitar begins humbly. The hands of a lone craftsman, Gangadhar in his modest workshop give shape to the wonderful sounds to come. His single room factory is filled with pieces of instruments ready to be assembled. His tools take up only a small corner of the place, easily within reach. Sitting cross-legged on the floor, he caresses the instruments into being. His craft has been in his family for many generations, the skills passed down with pride.

The passion Gangadhar has for his craft is mirrored by the sitarist, Mohamed Assani, in Vancouver, Canada. His love of music comes out when he plays. He mentions how music acts as a bridge between nations and cultures, creating a dialogue, similar to the way instruments can come together to form beautiful sounds. The two men are one and the same, on different sides of the world, proving that music has no boundaries, and that the love of music is something that can be shared by all cultures.
