Official: The District Councils should restore their role of serving HK's local communities

The amendment will bring District Councils back on track so that they can play their due role of serving local communities, said Deng Zhonghua, deputy director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council.
Deng made the remarks in an interview with the media, explaining the purposes of and concerns surrounding the amendments. The Standing Committee of the 13th National People's Congress, China's top legislature, on Tuesday passed amendments to Annex I and Annex II to the Basic Law of the HKSAR.
