Bashkirian Airlines Flight 2937/DHL Flight 611 - Crash Animation

Bashkirian Airlines Flight 2937, a Tupolev-154M was a flight on July 1, 2002 between Moscow and Barcelona carrying 69 people. Also in the airspace is a DHL cargo 757 aircraft with 2 crew members on board. The Tupolev plane carried mostly school children from Moscow for a school trip in Barcelona.

The Crash:
Both aircraft were flying at 36,000 feet when they started to get near each other. Their TCAS system warned the Tupolev aircraft to climb while the TCAS on the 757 told the pilots to descend. The Tupolev plane then was told by an air traffic controller to descend. The Tupolev pilots listened to the ATC while the 757 listened to the TCAS warning. Both planes were now heading towards each other. At 11:35pm, both planes collided causing a huge explosion. The Tupolev broke up and crashed near a German village while the 757 went to uncontrolled spiral and eventually crashed as well. All 71 people on both planes died.
