China Airlines Boeing 747 Classic Fleet History (1975-2002)

***NOTE: RE-UPLOADED FROM MY OLD CHANNEL***
Eyo and welcome to my Fleet Histories series where we take a look at the operational history of aircraft fleets both active and retired. Passenger airliners are normally featured, although freighter and government aircraft will be covered occasionally. This series was inspired by the videos of elmauriplatense, Ibirdball, Scaring Crab, and many other aviation Youtubers.

China Airlines utilized the Boeing 747 as their first wide-body aircraft in mid-1970's to compete with rival airlines on transpacific services. Their first aircraft, an ex-Delta Airlines 747-100, was purchased and delivered to the airline in 1975 and used it on their Hong Kong-Taipei-Tokyo-Honolulu-Los Angeles route. The airline later bought factory-fresh 747SPs in 1977, which enabled them to operate their Taipei-Los Angeles route nonstop. China Airlines operated the 747 Classics until May 25, 2002, when their last 747-200 suffered an in-flight breakup while operating as Flight 611 and crashed into the Taiwan Strait.
