Michel Cardin 1977 : Bach Prelude Fugue & Allegro BWV998

This is a 1977 live recording, taped on reel-to-reel magnetophon. Michel Cardin, age 23, played at the Gabriel-Cusson Hall in the Montreal Conservatoire a few days before his final exam which included this piece. He transcribed the work for 8-string guitar according to Bach’s lute version and with the help of Eugen Dombois’ 1973 vinyl recording. On an 8-string this implied frequent use of larger barrés and extensions, but all the basses were respected.
