V/Line Trains at Geelong Station during Peak Hour - Victorian Transport

In this video we see some afternoon peak hour action in Geelong; Victoria's second largest city situated around 75km southwest of Melbourne. Filmed between 5:40pm - 7:30pm, we see various V/Line trains at Geelong station which is the main station in the city. We mostly see Vlocity DMU's but we also see some N Class locomotive hauled trains, and the resident Y Class locomotive doing some shunting in the yard.

Geelong station opened in November 1856 as part of the construction of the Melbourne - Geelong railway, originally as a dead-end terminus. The opening of the line south towards Winchelsea in 1867 necessitated the need for a new station, which saw the current station built between 1877 & 1881. Geelong is one of only three railway stations in Australia to feature a 19th century train shed and is listed on the Victorian Heritage Register. Geelong is the 4th busiest station on the V/Line rail network, while the Geelong line is V/Line's busiest.
