Staring the show would the pair of visiting 1800's tank engines. The ever popular LB&SCR 'Terrier' N.o.72 'Fenchurch' from the Bluebell Railway, alongside L&Y Saddle Tank 11456 from the East Lancs Railway.
Also visiting was LMS Jubilee 45596 'Bahamas', new-build GWR 'Saint' 2999 'Lady of Legend' masquerading as lost class mate 2986 'Robin Hood'. GWR Manor 7812 'Erlestoke Manor' at the start of a period of long term loan from the SVR, as well as GWR 56xx 'Taff Tank' 6695 returning once again for the summer season. Completing the guest line up was GWR 28xx 2807 of the Gloucestershire & Warwickshire Railway, which has been on loan to the WSR for some months.
In terms of home fleet, Hudswell Clark 0-6-0 1856 which returned to the line after an extended period of load at the Pontypool & Blaunavon Railway, and newly restored 'Boots' fireless loco N.o.1 were on shunting demonstrations at Minehead. And not forgetting resident WSR 2-6-0 9351 also in action.
So, with a great variety of loco's lined up, paired with the extended period of sunny weather we've been having of late, the weekend as a whole set out to be one to remember, and it didn't disappoint! Full credit to the gala Planning Team who had to put up with all sorts over the 4 days, but still held a top event. Hope you enjoy!
