Global National: Aug. 19, 2020 | Documents shed new light into WE Charity affair

On Wednesday's episode of Global National: The Canadian government has released thousands of pages of internal records, linked to the cancelled WE Charity contract. Abigail Bimman explains why the Conservatives are accusing Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of a coverup, what the heavily redacted documents reveal and what questions remain unanswered.

An RCMP statement says the force is "examining" the federal government's now-cancelled contract with WE Charity. Mercedes Stephenson explains why. Plus, she looks at how proroguing Parliament takes the heat off Trudeau and the risk the government could be brought down.

A wildfire raging in British Columbia's Okanagan has put thousands of people under an evacuation alert. Aaron McArthur is near Penticton to explain why the Christie Mountain fire is difficult for crews to fight.

And Alberta is at odds with Ottawa's latest plan for a "green economic recovery" from the COVID-19 pandemic, as the province tries to attract investment in coal mining. Heather Yourex-West explains.
