The Old Vines of Barossa with Julia Lambeth DipWSET

While Australia is still referred to by some as a ‘New World’ wine producing country, it may surprise you to find out that is actually home to some of the world’s oldest vines, with some blocks dating back to the 1840s. The largest collection of these beautiful plants is located in South Australia's famous Barossa, where there is a particularly important number of very old Shiraz, Grenache and Mourvèdre vines. During this one hour webinar Julia Lambeth DipWSET will cover the definition of ‘old vines’, the history of winemaking in Barossa and how this region came to be home to so many old vines. She'll also take a look at the Barossa Old Vine Charter and explore how a vine's age might affect the style and quality of wine produced.

"Although WSET School London's building has had to close in light of the coronavirus pandemic, courses are still available online. In addition, while we are unable to deliver our usual packed programme of evening tasting events, we are hosting webinars on a variety of topics for you to expand your wine, spirits and sake knowledge. Visit wsetschool.com and go to our Tastings and Events page to find out more."
