Silver Lake at Sunset: Los Angeles 4K Drive

An April evening drive through East Hollywood and Silver Lake in Los Angeles. We begin in the flats of East Hollywood and then pass under the Sunset Blvd overpass at Myra Ave and emerge into the hills of Silver Lake. From here we climb some of the neighborhood's steepest residential blocks, catch a distant view of the downtown LA skyline, and descend to the Silver Lake Reservoir, where joggers, cyclists, and dog-walkers are out in force as the light turns golden. We circle the full perimeter of the Silver Lake reservoir, head down Silver Lake Blvd's leafy commercial stretch, and return to Sunset Blvd, passing the neon-lit Vista Theatre. Onto Hollywood Blvd through Little Armenia, with the sun dropping straight down the road ahead of us. A right onto Normandie frames the Griffith Observatory perfectly between the trees, and we finish on Franklin Ave at full sunset.

Unseasonably warm, clear skies, and one of those LA evenings where the locals are all out and about.
