The 82nd Airborne had a hard fight on their hands as they struggled for control of Nijmegen.

Additional notes
The Waal River Crossings were commanded by Major Julian Cook who led his 3rd Battalion 504th PIR in the crossing.
The delay of the British XXX Corps could have been broken and they could have reached Arnhem sooner. The American paratroopers were furious with the British that they would all of a sudden stop and wait before moving any further.
