If you are shooting in low light conditions or you are shooting landscape photography, you really don’t want to be touching the camera to press the shutter button. That is going to create movement in the camera and maybe ruin your images.

Of course, if you are using a more modern camera, you can just control it with your smartphone. But if you are shooting with a more old-school model like the Nikon D5200 here, you will need something else.

I have been using a generic brand remote for years now, it’s a rip-off of the Nikon ML-L3 remote control. It works really well with my D5200, I’ve never had any trouble with it.
