Moonton Is Now Acquired By ByteDance

A news said that Moonton is now acquired by ByteDance. The Mobile Legends game developer is acquired by ByteDance through its business unit engaged in the game business, Nuverse.

according to Hootshuite and We Are Social data, Mobile Legends by Moonton is a popular game in Southeast Asia and ranks amongst the top online games in SEA.

So, What’s gonna happen when Montoon is actually acquired by ByteDance.

An internal memo leaked by an anonymous source said that Moonton CEO Yuan Jing stated that the company would continue to operate independently after being acquired.

Mobile Legends is also likely to continue to be developed in the future, although ByteDance's plans for this game are still unknown. Mobile Legends will definitely gonna be the one of Bytedance's profitable purchased in expanding its market into the gaming industry through Nuverse.

Bytedance will compete with Tencent, China's largest video game and social media company which also owns a number of popular game titles such as Honor of Kings and League of Legends, to become number one mobile game developer in the future.

Moonton itself was founded by former Tencent employees before it was acquired by Bytedance. Tencent reportedly also made an offer but their numbers were not enough for the company.

According to sources who spoke to Reuters, Bytedance is estimated to spend around US $ 4 billion (around Rp.57.4 trillion) to acquired Moonton..
