Left Hand Frank Guitar Chat

Left Hand Frank is freaking amazing. This lesson focuses on his solo style on the tracks he did for Alligator Record's Living Chicago Blues Volume 1. I'll have to come back to the two guitar parts he did with Jimmy Rogers-- what a team-up! You can find that on the reissue of The Dirty Dozens and other records-- check it out! He used his fingers and had a ringing chordal style and a snarling tone. A lot of what you might hear him do sounds familiar, but there's always a twist here and there and it comes at you relentlessly and with the power of a sledgehammer. If he's new to you and you like raw gutbucket blues, I think you're really gonna like it. He passed in '92-- I'd love to hear some Left Hand Frank memories in the comments, thanks!
