Mighty Joe Peps Person guitar lesson Johnny Burgin w Bill Bates

I'm here in North Hollywood, CA with my buddy Bill Bates, a fine player who's worked with just about everyone in the LA blues scene. We always work together when I come to SoCal. We're both Mighty Joe Young freaks, so we played a version of his song "Mighty Joe" on the Peps Persson album "The Week Peps Came to Chicago", which also features Louis Meyers, Jimmy Dawkins, Fred Below, Sunnyland Slim, Carey Bell, etc. This tune really demostrates his groovy, percussive picking and the excitement it can generate. The rhythm section of Alvino Bennet and James Green is electrifying too-- check this song out! It makes a great set opener.
