So the idea about this build came when I was working onto Marble and Stainless steel Planter Build and during that build, there are a lot of pieces left during the ripping process
and other than that I have leftover marble pieces which came from the flooring work. Few pieces of marble came shattered so they are no longer usable but instead of throwing them away I decided to use them. A year ago I build a chessboard which turned out absolutely fantastic, I am saying it fantastic because during the start of that build I have a plan
but don't know how its gonna look like and the result of that build forces to try to make a lamp out of those stones. The result could be much better if all the pieces are of equal thickness but even though I tried my best to arrange them in proper order as best as I can. But I must say that the result is acceptable to me. The glueing process of the strips is carried out with two-part epoxy resin and I used my bar clamps to keep them intact with each other to make nice tight joints. The grinding process is done by using a diamond wheel having grit size varied from 60 grit up to 1500 grit. After that, the surface came out nice and clean. During the testing, I found that light is not going to diffuse through the acrylic and to increase the diffusion rate I decided to san the acrylic piece with 150 grit. I test on various grit sizes having a higher number, but they are not diffusing the light as I wanted. So I choose 150 grit and love the effect. For the mounting, I just mark the hole location and drill out the holes with a diamond core drill. Hammer drill can break the stone so I tried to avoid that. Then I fill out the holes with epoxy and make it ready for the fastening. After that, the result is in front of you.
