Curry's gonna have such a hard time, he was a foul baiter, but now he has to switch it up to get those career 4.2 free throws a game.
It's not like certain rules were implemented because a player abused it in last year's playoffs.
Hitting the like button really helps. Also gaming channel with a Steph Curry build, and I don't really get fouled either. And if you old new, subscribe to leave mainstream media talking about Curry being a foul baiter.
This one play in preseason has become the headliner, the visual for rule changes. And yes Curry is in the wrong in here, but it's not like he's the only one who has jumped into defenders. In fact, this move has been done by so many players over the years including Embiid, Carmelo, Jimmy Butler, Kobe, Wade, a lot of Luka, just everyone. But not everyone is hooking arms the way Harden is and not on the daily. Not everyone is getting 5 or 6 fouls in a game in the playoffs by abruptly veering off path and jumping backward to draw a foul
I really didn't think I'd have to be pointing out the obvious in Curry not foul hunting.
And it's not just shooting fouls that matter, it's fouls in general including the fouls on the floor. At the top of the list is Giannis which makes sense because he's getting fouled inside the paint and teams want to send him to the line. Then there's Embiid and at 3rd is Trae. Then it's Dame. Now let's look at Steph Curry. Last season despite leading the league in scoring at 32 points per game, Curry was 27th in fouls drawn per game. His game is literally not based on fouls and all about Out of all the superstars, he's the one that's probably the least impacted.
For some reason, the media has fixated on Curry, questioning if he'll be as effective. They've looped him with the players that are foul hunters. Yet Curry himself said that he hasn't been good at selling contact or using the off-arm to engage so he never learned it. And if the media actually watched the games, they would know that. Too much to ask for right?
This season Curry averaged 12.5 3 point attempts a game, the most in the NBA. And considering the fact that Curry pushed the envelope for threes, you would think Curry has the most fouls drawn on 3 pointers, but nah, it's Harden. It's always Harden. Even Dame has more despite shooting less threes about 300 less threes.
I still believe drawing fouls is a skill, like getting a defender to leave their feet and bump into you but not when defenders are punished for playing good defense. Curry has never tried to bend rules, he's bent the game.
With the new rules, we should see basketball as it should be. And players should adjust just like they had to in FIBA. It may take players some time, like when Team USA lost to Nigeria and looked bad. Curry however, is not one of those players so this is a message to the media. Stop the cap.
