FD RX-7 Gets a NEW built LS and "better than ever"? From Lucore Automotive

In this modern world where the phrase "LS Swap the World" is pretty common, you certainly don't see that from us all that often but in this case... we'll make an exception! Our customer previously purchased this car from Bring a Trailer with the LS1 swap already complete however that old motor just couldn't stand up to the use and abuse the new owner wants it for.

So what we have here is a GORGEOUS 1993 Mazda RX-7, more commonly known as the FD RX7. Originally coming with a 1.3 liter 13B twin turbo Wankel Rotary that old "black magic" motor was replaced in the past with the LS1 from a donor 2000 Chevy Camaro SS, also inheriting its 6 speed manual transmission. After some spirited driving that old LS1 is now dead and gone replaced with a brand new 5.7 liter LS built on the L33 core from Thompson Motorsports. All of the internals have been upgraded to handle considerably more power than we are expecting to push at this point but that leaves us plenty of room for power adders later if desired. Wiseco forged pistons on top of Manley forged rods fill the cylinder bores and sit under a freshly rebuilt set of AFR 205cc cylinder heads. Behind this freshly built LS we also have a brand new RPM Transmissions T56 transmission to take the abuse!

Fortunately for us, the previous builder did almost everything right with this FD RX7 LS build / swap, the components used were excellent and that makes our job of reassembling that much easier. We DID have a serious amount of work getting the Tein coilovers set up properly and getting the car properly corner balanced but at the end of the day it's going to be one AWESOME track car. Oh, did we say track car? Yeah this gorgeous piece of machinery is going to be living the street and track life, but not in a straight line this monster is going to be carving corners at Mid Ohio, Nelsons Ledges, Pitt, Gingerman Raceway and others! It's built for use and abuse so stay tuned for some track day action from this thing!
