What is Socialization?

No one is born knowing how to behave in society.

Socialization is the lifelong process of learning rules, values, and norms — from parents, teachers, friends, and media.

It’s how we learn to speak, dress, sit in class, respect authority, or challenge it.

Socialization creates order, but it also reproduces inequality — because not everyone is taught the same rules, or given the same chances to break them.

If we’re shaped from birth by invisible lessons… how free are our choices, really?
