Emma Does The Gold Dance While Detecting At Sand Hallow, Then We Visit Discount Pawn To Cash In!

Our family has been metal detecting now for about 2 months. We are learning the ins and outs of the hobby. To us the most important thing is to have fun! I, John, love to do it all - swing the detector, work the scoop, use the pin pointer, and edit the videos. Emma loves to play, sing, dig up treasure, work the scoop, and visit new locations. Ian is the shy one. He likes to find things off on his own. He loves to torment his sister, and he comes on camera occasionally to show us the things he finds. Heather runs the GoPro and she loves picking out new places to visit. Next week she has set up a trip for us to visit a few locations in and around Bryce Canyon National Park. We made our channel to share our adventures with family. We are first and foremost a video channel that documents our family adventures. Here is this weeks adventure:
The Treasure Travelers arrived at Sand Hollow Reservoir at 8 am and it was Coin Detecting Mayhem right from the start. Ian and Emma were busy playing with their squirt guns so I was swinging the detector. At every tone, Emma was there to help uncover the treasures. Because we were searching in sand, we used our new coin scoop to speed up the process of finding coins (and a bit of trash). After about 45 minutes we had the biggest surprise of the last two months... a gold ring. We were so excited at this point that we decided to pack it up and head for the pawnshop, Discount Pawn, in St George, Utah. We put our morning finds on the table to photograph, then we put the trash in the scoop and headed for the car. Because I can't walk with the detector in my hand without using it, I was swinging the detector while walking back to the car... I heard that familiar high tone and Ian helped us uncover one final treasure. What we found was heavy and it looked like silver, but there were no markings on it at all. We found the silverish thingy, after we took the image of our treasures, that is why it isn't on the table with our other finds.
At this point we were all excited to find out what our gold ring (Stamped 14K) was worth, and if in fact our last find was silver. Sand Hollow to Discount Pawn was about a 25 minute drive. The visit to Discount Pawn was Easy, Fun, Informative, and PROFITABLE! Derrik, the owner of the pawn shop, showed us how to check the gold and silver. He then weighed the ring and the silver thingy (Which we think might have been a bolo tie minus the string things) The gold ring weighed in at about 3 grams, and the silver thingy was heavy. Our goal in the future it to find gold that weighs as much as the silver thing, and silver that has value because it's in a valuable coin.
