China is ‘acting like a bully’ because they are ‘not in a position of strength’

Sky News host James Morrow says it is important to note China is only acting like a bully towards Australia because they are not in a position of strength.

It comes as the Morrison government announced it is prepared to engage with China, but won’t surrender to them or their intimidation after the Chinese embassy in Canberra released a list of 14 grievances with Australia.

The list included attempts to “torpedo” Victoria’s involvement in Belt and Road Initiative and calling for an independent inquiry into COVID-19.

“Let’s talk about this list here and think ‘this kind of works both ways’,” Mr Morrow told Sky News host Rowan Dean.

“I mean there’s a lot of reasons why Australia should be annoyed with Chinese Communist Party.”

Mr Morrow spoke of the Australian citizens who were “locked up with absolutely no due process” in China.

“The attacks on our beef, barley, wine, foreign student markets, coal and imports – all sorts of stuff like this,” he said.

“I think the important thing that we also need to understand is that China is simply acting like a bully because they are not in a position of strength.

“They have great dreams of taking over the Pacific, great dreams of taking over the world and right now I think Xi Jinping is looking at the state of his own country … and thinking this dream is actually slipping away.”
