Punch, a famous baby Japanese macaque at Ichikawa City Zoo in Japan, is slowly getting used to living with other monkeys. Zoo staff said he is now “gradually integrating” into the group, as visitors continued to come to see him despite heavy rain.

Earlier, Punch used to hold on to a soft toy orangutan all the time because his mother left him when he was born eight months ago.

But now, things are changing. Punch has started going up to other monkeys on his own, trying to communicate and even play with them. Zoo staff say this is a very positive and encouraging sign.
