The Trump administration is getting tougher on China during the transition period to the next president. Just over the past week, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced new visa restrictions on Chinese officials. He also said the U.S. had decided to end five China-U.S. cultural exchange projects. And according to top U.S. security officials last week, more than 1,000 Chinese researchers have left the United States amid a crackdown on alleged technology theft. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Monday, Beijing wants to build a healthy and stable relationship with the U.S..He admits ties have faced serious challenges in recent years. But the key word, he says, is "reconstruction." Will the incoming U.S. administration take a more measured constructive approach to China?
