Liver Anatomy - Accessory Organs Part 1
This video is Part 1 of the anatomy of the Accessory Organs
General info of Liver:
- Liver (Hepar) weights 1,5 kg
- Many vital functions:
Digestive function
Nutrient processing
Detoxification
Cholesterol production
Storage
Blood sugar regulation
Topography of the liver:
- Holotopy of the liver: Left hypochondriac region, epigastric region, right hypochondriac region.
- Sceletopia: Superior border of the liver and the inferior border of the liver
- Syntopia of the liver: Diaphragmatic surface and Visceral surface of liver
Ligamentum Falciforme separates right and left lobe
Two margins:
Inferior border and superior border
Superior border has Area Nauda (bare area), directly in contact with the diaphragm.
Posterior surface:
Right Sagittal groove:
- Formed by fossa for gallbladder and fossa for inferior vena cava
Left Sagittal groove:
- Formed by the round ligament (ligamentum teres hepatis) and ligamentum venosum
Transverse groove of the liver:
- Lies on Porta Hepatica, separates the Caudate Lobe from Quadrate Lobe
Porta hepatis: Common hepatic duct comes out from here.
Liver has Tunica FIbrosa and a layer of fat called visceral peritoneum on top.
Ligaments from liver to diaphragm:
- Lig. Falciforme hepatis
- Ligamentum coronaries hepatis
- Ligamentum Triangulare Dexter and Sinister
Ligaments to organs:
- Ligamentum Hepatogastricum
- Ligamentum hepatoduodenale
- Ligamentum hepatorenale
- Ligamentum teres hepatis
