Ammonia as a green fuel – EU project HiPowAR

With an energy density nearly twice that of liquid hydrogen and ease of storage, shipping and distribution, ammonia is a viable green alternative fuel. Together with our project partners, we want to develop a pioneering technology in the EU project HiPowAR that enables the direct energy conversion of renewable ammonia in a membrane reactor. The development of a concept of this membrane reactor is our task in this context.
Robert Hoffmann shows how the heart of the reactor, the ceramic Mixed-Ionic-Electronic-Conductor membrane, is manufactured from raw material to finished component at our institute. More about the project: https://www.hipowar.eu/en/home
