Combat Fishing for Sockeye Salmon on the Kenai River

My son and I took a trip down to the Kenai River to fish for sockeye salmon just as the run started to ramp up. This first influx of fish brings the anglers out in force and it is not uncommon see fisherman standing 10-20 feet apart for hundreds of yards; hence, the term combat fishing. With this many fisherman in the same local, it is also not uncommon to be hooked by another fisherman.
