What If...? – Netflix / Imagine / RatPac (Brett Ratner's Soul Soul Soul: The Murray Murray Story)
In 2016, it was announced that comedy legend Eddie Murphy would be reteaming with Tower Heist director Brett Ratner for the Netflix comedy, Soul Soul Soul: The Murray Murray Story, a mockumentary — in the vein of Woody Allen's Zelig — about an iconic 1960's soul singer named Murray Murray. After a hot new artist samples his hit 1962 song, Murray attempts to get his old band back together in the hopes of taking down hip-hop. Chris Case was tapped to pen the script, while Brian Grazer and Tyler Mitchell would produce through Imagine Entertainment. Ultimately though, nothing ever came of the project.
