【Chris Chang Ortho】438. Correcting Anterior Crossbite for Patients with Extraction Space

Abstract

Composite inclined plate and Class lll elastics are commonly used in the treatment of Class III malocclusion with anterior cross bite. For such patients with extraction space, installing an open coil spring in the maxillary extraction zone is effective in preserving space and moving maxillary anteriors labially, facilitating anterior cross bite correction. As such, maxillary anteriors are prevented from moving into the extraction space resulting in lingual tipping. In addition, a composite inclined plate is bonded on the lower anterior teeth and Class lll elastics are also used in the bite correction. Once anterior cross bite is corrected, the open coil spring can then be removed, followed by extraction space closure.

樹脂咬合板和第三類橡皮筋經常使用在矯正第三類咬合不正合併前牙錯咬的治療。針對這類又合併拔牙的患者，可在上頷拔牙區放置open coil spring ，即可有效保存空間，避免上頷前牙進入拔牙區，導致牙冠往舌側傾斜，也可使上頷前牙往頰側移動，有助於矯正前牙錯咬。另外，在下頷前牙區黏上樹脂斜板( composite inclined plate)以及使用第三類橡皮筋( Class lll elastics)一起輔助矯正錯咬。一旦錯咬改正後，即可移除open coil springs，開始關閉拔牙空間。
