I said "Basic & Nomad" because Zazil Kin is NOT a typical luxurious hotel you might get used to if you come to Tulum often.

To begin with, I stayed at this hotel 10 years ago. (2012) I liked the simplicity and nomad style of this hotel, so I decided to give them a visit again in 2021. It had not changed much at all, but it still has that ambiance that many of you would love anyway.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐝𝐨 𝐈 𝐬𝐮𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐙𝐚𝐳𝐢𝐥 𝐊𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐨?

🌴 Youngsters with lower expectations - happy to live their nomad lives with the basics. (Bed, table, two chairs. mosquito net in the cabana shared bathrooms, restaurant with sand without flooring.)

🌴 Youngsters who do get bothered with loud music (Salsa, Mexican, Merengue, Disco, and such.)

🌴 Young families who just want to have fun with kids - Zazil Kin has a huge area for playing hide and seek.

🌴 Rooms are really basic just like the restaurant and service.

🌴Zazil Kin is just right next to Playa Paraiso - A quiet beachside of Tulum (The left-hand side from the roundabout if you are biking to the beach from downtown Tulum.)

There is a beach club, called Playa Paraiso Beach Club and there is Playa Paraiso public beach. If you ride a bike you can leave it locked up right before getting down to the beach and walking down to the public beach. Most of the places are open for the public anyway if you get hungry or fancy a drink. There is a public toilet available as well just before you arrive at the beach. NOT ON THE BEACH.

𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐢𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐚 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟:

1, Get down early so you can find a palm tree where you can spend the rest of the day underneath. During the day you will not find one without people sitting underneath. If you do not mind sharing shades, there would not be any problem though.

2, Lock up your bike to a tree because there are not many lockers available, and better to be safe and sound. (I learned this by looking at what locals do.)

3, Do not even try to steal a coconut from a palm tree because Mexicans can get irritated if they see you. Those coconuts which are on the ground already, you might try to take them but make sure no one sees you.
