1. Prima autem sabbatorum Maria Magdalene venit ma ne, cum adhuc tenebrae essent, ad monumentum et videt lapidem sublatum a monumento. 2. Currit ergo et venit ad Simonem Petrum et ad alium discipulum, quem amabat Iesus, et dicit eis: "Tulerunt Dominum de monumento, et nescimus, ubi posuerunt eum!". 3. Exiit ergo Petrus et ille alius discipulus, et veniebant ad monumentum. 4. Currebant autem duo simul, et ille alius discipulus praecucurrit citius Petro et venit primus ad monumentum; 5. et cum se inclinasset, videt posita linteamina, non tamen introivit. 6. Venit ergo et Simon Petrus sequens eum et introivit in monumentum; et videt linteamina posita 7. et sudarium, quod fuerat super caput eius, non cum linteaminibus positum, sed separatim involutum in unum locum. 8. Tunc ergo introivit et alter discipulus, qui venerat primus ad monumentum, et vidit et credidit.
9. Nondum enim sciebant Scripturam, quia oportet eum a mortuis resurgere

- فَصلٌ شَريف مِن بِشارةِ القِديس يُوحَنَّا الإِنجيلي البَشير
- المَجدُ لَكَ يا رَب

1وفي يَومِ الأَحَد جاءَت مَريمُ المِجدَلِيَّةُ إِلى القَبْرِ عِندَ الفَجْر، والظَّلامُ لَم يَزَلْ مُخَيِّمًا، فرأَتِ الحَجَرَ قد أُزيلَ عنِ القَبْر. 2فأَسرَعَت وجاءَت إِلى سِمْعانَ بُطرُس والتِّلميذِ الآخَرِ الَّذي أَحَبَّه يسوع، وقالَت لَهما: «أَخَذوا الرَّبَّ مِنَ القَبْرِ، ولا نَعلَمُ أَينَ وَضَعوه». 3فخَرَجَ بُطرُسُ والتِّلْميذُ الآخَرُ وذَهَبا إِلى القَبْرِ 4يُسرِعانِ السَّيْرَ مَعًا. ولٰكِنَّ التِّلْميذَ الآخَرَ سَبَق بُطرُس، فوَصَلَ قَبلَه إِلى القَبْرِ 5وٱنحَنى فأَبصَرَ اللَّفائِفَ مَمْدودة، ولٰكنَّه لَم يَدخُلْ. 6ثُمَّ وَصَلَ سِمْعانُ بُطرُس وكانَ يَتبَعُه، فدَخَلَ القَبْرَ فأَبصَرَ اللَّفائِفَ مَمْدودة، 7والمِنديلَ الَّذي كانَ حَولَ رَأسِه غَيرَ مَمْدودٍ معَ اللَّفائِف، بل عَلى شَكْلِ طَوْقٍ خِلافًا لَها، وكان كُلُّ ذٰلك في مَكانِه. 8حينَئذٍ دخَلَ أَيضًا التِّلميذُ الآخَرُ وقَد وَصَلَ قَبلَه إِلى القَبْر، فرَأَى وآمَنَ. 9ذٰلك بِأَنَّهُما لم يكونا قد فهِما ما وَرَدَ في الكِتاب مِن أَنَّه يَجِبُ أَن يَقومَ مِن بَينِ الأَموات

1. On the first day of the week, Mary of Magdala came to the tomb early in the morning, while it was still dark,* and saw the stone removed from the tomb.
2. So she ran* and went to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and told them, “They have taken the Lord from the tomb, and we don’t know where they put him.”
3. So Peter and the other disciple went out and came to the tomb.
4. They both ran, but the other disciple ran faster than Peter and arrived at the tomb first;
5. he bent down and saw the burial cloths there, but did not go in.
6. When Simon Peter arrived after him, he went into the tomb and saw the burial cloths* there,
7. and the cloth that had covered his head, not with the burial cloths but rolled up in a separate place.
8. Then the other disciple also went in, the one who had arrived at the tomb first, and he saw and believed.
9. For they did not yet understand the scripture that he had to rise from the dead.
