US Wants Venezuela’s Oil – That’s Why They Attacked – Venezuela Oil War Explained
Venezuela has the world’s largest oil reserves – 300 billion barrels.
US says it’s acting against “narco-terrorism” and dictatorship.
But Trump also said:
“We will take Venezuela’s oil, and American companies will invest billions.”
🔴 US blockade of Venezuelan oil tankers
🔴 US military says: “We’ll run Venezuela until a new government is ready”
🔴 US oil companies expected to rebuild, then profit
This is not just about drugs… it’s about oil, minerals, and US energy dominance in the Caribbean.
The 2026 US intervention in Venezuela is officially framed as a “law enforcement” mission against what Washington calls a “narco-state” led by Nicolás Maduro. But behind the rhetoric, Venezuela’s massive oil and mineral wealth is at the center of the conflict.
Venezuela holds the world’s largest proven oil reserves (about 17% of the global total). After Maduro’s capture, the Trump administration openly declared that:
US oil companies (like Chevron, ExxonMobil, ConocoPhillips) would invest billions in Venezuela’s oil fields
Revenue from Venezuelan oil would repay “stolen” US assets and fund reconstruction
The US would “run Venezuela” until a safe transition allows full Western access to its resources
In this Episode 3 of the series, we explore:
How Venezuela’s oil became a strategic target
US economic and geopolitical interests in Latin America
The difference between “fighting dictatorship” and “resource imperialism”
In Part 4, we tackle the tough question: In this crisis, who deserves support – Maduro or the US?
👇 Part 4 – Who should we support?
