2021 Isuzu D-Max DL40 Walkaround
2021 Isuzu D-Max DL40 Walkaround
Hello guys, welcome back to Car Obsession, and welcome to another walkaround. This time it's the tough, rugged (and very muddy) Isuzu D-Max. More specifically, I have the DL40, which is one down from the range-topping V-Cross, with a starting price of 35710.80 for the manual, and £37510.80 for the 6-speed auto, which is what I am showing here.
There may be a choice of gearboxes, but there is only one choice of engine. It's a 1.9 litre turbocharged diesel offering 164hp along with 360Nm of torque. Performance stats seem a little pointless, but in case you're wondering, this will hit 62mph in 12.7 seconds, and the top speed is 112.
Performance may not be the D-Max's strength, and fuel economy isn't much better either, despite being a diesel, With the 6-speed automatic, Isuzu states that on a combined run you can expect up to 30.7mpg, and it emits 241g/km of CO2 emissions, so a polar bear saver it is not.
However, it probably has what it takes to save a polar bear if it were to be stranded as the Isuzu D-Max plenty of off-roading grunt. The 'DL' part of DL40 makes reference to a differential lock which comes as standard. On top of that, there is a chassis that is stronger than before, a low range gearbox, a 4 wheel drive system that can work on the fly with faster transitions than before and hill decent control.
The D-Max is also smarter than before, as well as being safer. The DL40 comes as standard with LED lights front and rear, reversing camera, keyless entry, dual zone climate control, heated front seats, leather seats and smartphone connectivity to name a few.
It also features safety tech including 8 airbags, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, emergency lane intervention, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning and autonomous emergency braking. This was enough to earn the Isuzu D-Max 5 stars from Euro NCAP, the first pick up to do so in the governing body's latest round of testing.
