In this video we talk about SEO factors that work and rank your pages for 2016 (and still works for 2020).
The basic fundamentals for successful SEO ranking is as below:
1. You want your keyword in the title of the page.
2. H1 header should be related to the keyword. I.e you want a natural H1 title that also contains the keyword (do not make the header keyword specific, but instead expand on it).
3. Mention the exact keyword at least once in the article body, but do not over do it!
4. Linking externally to high quality relevant pages is critical to ranking.
5. Name your image appropriately with keywords in the filenames.
However, to supercharge your on-page content and get the best possible assigned points by Google, then we recommend following this structure:
- 1200-3000 unique words (not spun or copied)
- 3-12 original images (not copied)
- 1 title (H1)
- 4-12 sub-headlines (H2)
- 4-12 relevant internal links
- 1-12 relevant external links
- 1 table of content
- 1 bullet list
But wait, do not stop there, why not go one step ahead of your competition so that you can be sure to out rank them? You do this by adding on-page boosters such as:
- Meta-descriptions: We know that this does NOT directly help rankings, but if your descriptions are inciting to read it will encourage more clicks which in turn increase click through rate and ultimately improved rankings.
- Rich snippets: Remember those yellow stars on the search results? Well similarly that will encourage more clicks and therefore a better click through rate and Google rankings.
- Breadcrumbs: The breadcrumbs will show up on the search results in the form of links to entice more clicks.
- Video-sitemap: Not allows successful, but having a video sitemap will sometimes display the video thumbnail on the search results, making your site standout from the rest.
- Table of content: Should any of your headers have a terms someone happens to search on Google, your header will display on the search results in the form of a link... once again this will stand out from the other results, which means more clicks.
