Bournemouth Beach in 1975 including the first replenishment works

A short film of a day at the beach watching the very first successful beach replenishment works (Beach improvement scheme 2) in Bournemouth in 1975, designed to protect the coast from erosion. The boys walk down to the beach through the very quiet streets of Southbourne, and have a play on the sand of the old beach with its high sea wall, before moving along to see the dredger, pumps, pipes and bulldozers at work, and finally, a few weeks later, get to play on a newly topped up section of the beach.
