Annabelle 1 VS Annabelle 2

Despite the first movie being a total flop with moviegoers, Warner Bros decided to green light a sequel to Annabelle titled Annabelle Creation. Is it a shameless cash-grab like the first movie or did they actually decide to put more effort into it?
