This 1-MINUTE DOOR FIX Can Solve RATTLING DOORS!! (#1 Door Strike Plate Trick)

Rattling, banging, loose doors are a major headache. This short video from The Honest Carpenter will show you the absolute EASIEST repair for doors. It only takes one minute!

Strike plates are the little pieces of metal hardware that sit on your door jamb and give the door handle latch something to fall securely into.

BUT, strike plates often have empty space around the latch, which allow the door to bang or rattle when acted upon by pressure changes in the air in the house.

Many people don't realize, but most door strike plates are ADJUSTABLE. They have a tang, or tongue, perpendicular to the body of the strike plate, which can be bent with a pair of pliers, or possibly an adjustable wrench.

By bending this tongue forwards, the latch will have less room to move around inside the strike plate, thus keeping your door secure. Now your rattling, banging, loose door problems are solved!
