A wrong-turn in Berlin -recounted in 2011 by RAF veteran, DennisThomas

In these strange times of grave tensions between Russia and the rest of Europe, an item in my interview archive of recollections of local folk is perhaps worth a revisit.

In 2011, Dennis Thomas, a resident of Buckley, Flintshire and sadly no longer with us, recounted to me a tale of the only time he met a Russian face to face. At the time of this incident, the ever-resourceful Dennis was a specialist RAF technician serving in a, still-divided, Berlin. His work involved detailed testing of top-secret, nuclear-armed missile systems -and his movements around the city were highly classified and restricted at all times
