SELF-DEFENCE AND REASONABLE FORCE | What is self-defence? What amounts to reasonable force?

As a black belt and a barrister, I am often asked what is self-defence and reasonable force. This is just a brief overview of what self-defence is and how it is applied, and, what amounts to reasonable force and how this is decided. You only need to have a genuinely held belief or reasonable mistake as to what you believe the circumstances to be in order to act in self-defence, and then your response must be deemed to be reasonable force.
