Three By Billy Boy Arnold ft Jody Williams and Syl Johnson

I recorded this video on June 11, 2023, decreed by The Office of The Mayor as Billy Boy Arnold day! I love all of Billy's recordings but his early Vee Jay singles are my favorite-- a rockin' treasure trove of fabulous guitar, perfect Chicago ensemble blues playing, cool harp and captivating vocals. Jody Williams along with Syl Johnson provide a lot of the spice on the records with their firey and original leads. I took a look at "Don't Stay Out All Night" and "I Ain't Got You", ft Jody Williams and closed out with "No No No No No" with some really exciting Syl Johnson in the forefront. Jody is in OPEN E, and getting the hang of some of those licks in that tuning was challenging but worth it! Most folks definately just hit those tunes in standard, which is totally doable but there's a special something at times in the original tuning. The beginning, ending and the solo in "No No No No No" is just SMOKIN' and so much fun to play. We will definately have to do a Part 2 on songs like Prisoner's Plea, I Was Fooled (is Jody in standard here?), etc. I went pretty fast, and didn't break things down as much as I could have; I tried to target this lesson to folks who already have a good grasp of basic electric blues lead guitar. Any feedback good or bad about that is welcome.
