Qantas’ brand has been ‘absolutely tarnished’

The Australian’s media writer Sophie Elsworth says Qantas have done themselves “no favours” as media outlets target the national airline for its poor service and support of the Voice to Parliament.

Qantas has been facing scrutiny for its illegal sacking of 1,700 staff during the COVID-19 pandemic and its close relationship with the government.

“It is good that they are being called out, and I really think now they need to have a real reset with their new boss, Vanessa Hudson,” she told Sky News Digital Editor Jack Houghton.

“Because, at the moment, their brand is absolutely tarnished.”

A parliamentary inquiry is currently investigating the government's decision to block extra Qatar Airways flights from coming into Australia.

The Coalition has been vocal about what it sees as an inappropriately tight relationship between the government and Qantas.
