Oh, I wish I was in the land of cotton! You will too when you see some of the neat vintage things in Dothan, Alabama’s Land of Cotton Antique Mall. This regular stop on my way to Florida is a special place, where southern hospitality and great deals on good resale merchandise are readily found.

We shop this mall together in this video, with an emphasis on talking prices and finding the best bargains. There’s a lot to take in here, from a fantastically old and suitably worn 18th century door to 1970s amber velour chairs. Showcases of valuable and interesting smalls are another feature, with everything from tin party noisemakers to glamorous flapper dresser sets on display.

The most timely deal of the day is a set of original 1930s restaurant ware from the fabulous Vinoy Hotel in St. Petersburg, still a city landmark and highly collectible at my upcoming Florida antique shows! We discover what a cloche is, find John Wayne on a box of bullets and end up sending a bunch of things to the register. There’s so many shiny objects that we’ll have to come back with another video to capture them all!
