In Pokémon Episode 151 (“The Totodile Duel!”), Misty talks about her love for Water-type Pokémon — but what she says depends heavily on which version you watch. In the English dub, she simply says she wants to train as many Water Pokémon as possible. But in the original Japanese version, she goes much further. Misty says she hopes for a beautiful Water Pokémon to travel the world with and even prays to the God of Water Pokémon for her wish to come true. That entire moment was completely rewritten for the English release, removing the prayer altogether. Another subtle example of how Pokémon’s dub quietly altered certain moments to avoid controversy.
