In Pokémon: The First Movie, there’s a moment many fans still laugh about: when Team Rocket sees a Pokémon silhouette and calls it “Alakazam” — even though the shape is clearly Scyther. This wasn’t just a random dub goof. According to the English DVD commentary, the mistake was noticed during production, but the team decided to keep it in the final version because it fit Team Rocket’s clueless personalities and gave fans something fun to spot. They even joked that, since Team Rocket wouldn’t know every Pokémon perfectly, it made sense they’d mess up — so the dub was left just as it was. It’s one of those rare mistakes that wasn’t fixed, and it became a quirky bit of Pokémon trivia.
