Sydney's second-largest pumping station almost complete

Sydney's second-largest water pumping station is almost complete, with 84,000 homes set to benefit.

The Liverpool pumping station will allow for an extra 115 megalitres of additional reservoir capacity in Western Sydney - the equivalent of around 60 Olympic-sized swimming pools.

The facility will operate seven environmentally friendly pumps. The pumps will use variable speed drives which control the amount of power used in order to save energy during times of reduced demand.

The Liverpool pumping station is part of a $450 million investment known as Prospect to Macarthur (ProMac), which will upgrade and expand the city’s water and wastewater infrastructure.
