While plenty of celebrities have been sentenced to jail time for truly horrible crimes, there are some who have been wrongly accused over the years as well. A false accusation can harm the image of an otherwise beloved celebrity, to be sure. And even if it’s proven to be false, their image might still suffer some permanent damage.

For instance, by the time a judge ruled that boxer Rubin “Hurricane’ Carter was not guilty, he had done almost 20 years in jail.
