Customer Mistake Leads to Easy AC Service Call
I I am on a new AC service call. I am told the system just will not turn on. I was told the controls that was on. Therefore I test the unit.I have zero power coming into the unit. I found the first relay on the wall, have line voltage in, no 24 V energizing the relay. I trace out all the wires, I tests 24 V at the transformer in the condenser. Due to having 24 volts coming out of my transformer. I verify what color wires or carrying power into the building. Next I trace the wires out and locate a thermostat on the second floor. The thermostat was off. Therefore I turn on the thermostat and tester unit. Since I noticed the low-voltage wire outside was stripped up in their copper showing. I showed the owner of the building the wire and he said OK to replace it.Sometimes we get easy service calls, where the customer says the unit on, yet really it is off.
