Grow Shishito Pepper in Tempe, Arizona

I am Jacq from Epic Yard Farm, in Tempe Arizona! Welcome to my very first episode of gardening video!

Today, I want to introduce you to one of my favorite plants growing in our garden! Shishito pepper!
Shishito pepper is a sweet, thin-walled glossy green pepper that is quite popular in Japan.

It is easy to grow here in Phoenix, Arizona. Just make sure it is growing under a nursing plant, in our case, we have it growing under a moringa tree.

This shishito pepper plant was started the seeds indoors during Christmas of 2013. Then transplanted it in the ground mid March of 2014. It started setting fruit in early April and has been producing shishito ever since.

It is now late March in 2015 and this pepper plant is just loaded with flowers, ready to produce lots of shishito peppers!
