New Zealand Family Christmas 🇳🇿🎄 A Sunny Summer Kiwi Christmas in Rotorua | 197 Countries, 3 Kids

Merry Christmas, Guys!

Join us for an atypical but joyful Christmas celebration New Zealand!

We are back in Rotorua, and this time we are staying at a friends’ house and dog-sitting too!

Yep, now we have “adopted” a 4-pawed friend named Frankie.

Our “home away from home” is a spacious 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom house with a fully-equipped kitchen and an inviting backyard.

One of the few responsibilities we have as guests is to take Frankie for walks, which we truly enjoy.

At the start of our stay, we planned a trip to the Blue and Green Lakes, and of course, she had to come along.

And since it was Christmas, there were people everywhere, so it took us a while to find the perfect spot where Frenkie could enjoy splashing in the lake without disturbing others.

She got so excited and started pulling on Julia that we were wondering who was walking who. Lol!

The surrounding nature looked breathtaking under the summer sun. There was also a lookout spot right between the Blue and the Green Lakes that gave us the chance to admire the beauty of both lakes at the same time.

The Green Lake is owned by the local Maori Iwi and is considered a sacred lake. It is also closed to the public, so be sure to go to the Blue Lake if you are thinking to visit the area for sports and recreation

Back home we were thinking about bringing the Christmas spirit into the house, so Angelique started an epic gingerbread building project.

In the meantime, Chantal gave the girls a new haircut or, better said, a little trim, and they all looked great.

Next they made a strawberry cake that looked so delicious that we thought of having it before dinner. 🤣 It was so rich and decadent that we decided to put it in the NEW COOKBOOK we are dropping soon! Stay tuned to find out when!

Just in time for Christmas, we received a gift package from Pepe, but we were a little bummed to find out that the best gifts were missing!

We had a lovely family dinner on Christmas Eve and followed it with the best part of the night - gift opening!

On Christmas Day, we had a big get-together with our Kiwi friends. There was tons of food, lots of games, and an insane amount of fun!

Christmas in summer is something else! You gotta try it!

The day after Christmas in New Zealand (UK, Canada, and a few other places) is called Boxing day. For those of you who haven’t heard of it, it’s a lot like Black Friday, where Kiwis do a lot of discount shopping, and we couldn’t escape the craze too!

But what followed was even more fun!

We drove over to Lake Tarawera where we had a barbecue, played games and swam in the lake with our friends on yet another perfect summer day in New Zealand.
